Hello, my name is Derick J Fields. I am a veteran of the United States Army and have served my country proudly for eight years, with two combat deployments. As a grateful recovering addict, I have been clean since April 10th, 2021. I aspire to guide just one person to have hope and faith in recovery, addiction, or mental illness. About The Founder

Derick's Story

Because the God of my understanding (Jesus Christ) has called me to serve this way, I’m so thankful I have this opportunity to share this experience, strength, and hope.  I started with identifying what mental illness or addiction was and what diagnosis I had to maintain recovery on all levels. I am diagnosed with (MDD) Major Depressive Disorder, (PTSD) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and (SUD) Substance Use Disorder. Now that I know, I can begin treatment with self-care, medicine, therapy, support groups, and some type of physical activity. My mental health and addiction recovery is defined as identifying, learning, and supporting. On my website, playthetape.me we will have a chance to learn how God, Spiritual Principles, and Letters from people just like us gave us freedom in this world. I’ve been called to be of service in the way that I know how and what God showed to me what people he has sent to me in my journey of recovery, which means inspirational change moving forward, understanding how not to take the small things for granted to appreciate a sunset to appreciate holding your spouse’s hand to enjoy to kiss your kids to appreciate a warm shower a full belly to be able to brush your teeth. This website and this company is here and is designed to be a safe and thriving environment where people can come and interact with one another, share their letters share their testimonies hear others testimonies and stories and get resources and tools that we need to help us in our everyday mental health challenges and our everyday substance use disorders.

There will be letters after every spiritual principle; some might correlate, and some might not. The purpose is to see the spiritual principle breakdown for what it is and how it relates to God’s word; there will be samples on the website. So these letters are testimonies of trials and tribulations that people have been through, whether it may be mental health issues, substance use issues,  a journey of life, ups, downs, challenges, successes, blessings, laughs, cries, hurt, wounds, and healing. The purpose is to show that people are not alone when facing challenges.
